9. Why do you think more companies are targeting bloggers to market their products?

Because we bloggers are REAL.. If the product is not good, we say it… And also, only bloggers have the time to blog & do review on their products… =)

 Name: Joyce September

Age: Mid-20s

Blog Name: 宅女 记 http://ateliergal.pixnet.net/blog

Stats: 7000 visits per month

1. When did you start blogging?

I’ve been blogging since the year 2000 but switched to my current blog to a) improve on my Mandarin skills b) appeal to a wider audience.

2. Why?

I initially started out posting my daily life on the Net, and slowly progessing to voice out my opinions about the movies I’ve seen, books I’ve read, and recently branching out on the subject of beauty.

3.  Describe your blog in one sentence.

Chic, nerdy.

4.  Who are your readers?

According to analytics on my blog, I have readers from Singapore, Taiwan, United States, Hong Kong and many other random hits from France, Malaysia etc. I have made many other beauty enthusiasts who read up reviews before they go scouting for potential products.

5. Favourite beauty / skincare brands?

Lancome, Clinelle, Laneige, Elizabeth Arden, St. Ives, Revlon

6. Most popular blog posts?

Product, movie reviews, most recently video streaming on my pet, Milo.

7. How often do you blog?

I update 4-5 times a week.

8. What is your vision for your blog?

Reaching out to a wider range of readers, hoping to review more beauty products to ensure they get the most honest opinion before they make worthy purchases.

9. Why do you think more companies are targeting bloggers to market their products?

People these days turn to blogging to voice out their opinions on the daily things they see. Others also turn to blogs to find out if others share their same thoughts or to seek various opinions. Most bloggers have a loyal base of readers who turn to their blog to seek out potentials products to buy.

Further more, advertising on TV, magazines etc are no longer the sole source to convince consumers to buy their products. They are more street-smart, seeking opinions first before deciding whether the product is worthy or not, especially when they have other concerns like skin compatibilty, the quality & value of the product.

10.   Complete this sentence, companies who ignore social media…

Do not see the inherently social medium that is the Internet. It is also a new, cost-efficient way to communicate with their target audience. Social media is fast becoming a priority, which is one of the cheapest, fastest and most effective ways to tap into the consumer pulse.

People will always want to engage with one another online, and social media will be there in one form or another to accommodate this need.
